The Bedworth Charity Bonfire & Fireworks event is a great night for the family. It is one of the longest running events within the Borough and offers one of the most authentic ‘Bonfire Night’ experiences around, with the bonfire built high and a spectacular fireworks show to accompany it. The event is held in the Miners Welfare Park in Bedworth with great access into the park through three gates.
BEDWORTH CHARITY BONFIRE: A HISTORY
The Bedworth Charity Bonfire has been running for many years. In the beginning, the event was run by Nuneaton & Bedworth council staff, with the assistance of Bedworth Round Table and Bedworth Lions. Over the years the Round Table and Lions took on more and more work for the event, eventually being given total responsibility by the council.
In the 1990s it was decided to start using the event to raise funds for local charities, which opened up the opportunity to expand the event with food and merchandise stalls. In 2008 we decided to bring music to the event which has resulted in record numbers coming through the gates.
In 2021, Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council made the decision to step away from the running and funding of the event, and from this point it was managed as a joint-venture between the Lions and Round Table.
In the 25+ years the event has been running over £100,000 has been raised for local charities with the local community’s support.
